This Server is hosted at EICN which is an engineering school located at Le Locle near french border. We (HB9HLI and F1RPC) have begun this project in early 1998 to promote hamradio experimentation. Our aim is to set up an highspeed TCP/IP backbone. Here in switzerland PACKET-Radio network is based on 9k6 or 19k2 G3RUH links on 70cm or 23cm. Digipeater system is well known RMNC/Flexnet based on an obsolete multi 6809 8 bits processor system. Our first TCP/IP experimentations have been done with Slackware Linux under kernel 2.0.36 at 9600 bit/s on 70cm ham band. Our first PC server was an old second hand pentium 90 computer fitted with 16Mbytes of ram. Now it's a cyrix P166+ with 64Mo RAM and about 20 Gbytes of hd space. We are now planning to use highspeed solution from Slovenia. I will document the whole project in english for easier exchange, for french people i am sorry i don't have time to translate these documents into french langage. This server will be equiped with S5DMA SCC board to run a 1,2 Mbit/s access to the backbone , we already have 2 mounted board for hardware interface. You can look in the Projects link to have informations on these cards. Next step is to mount 23cm and 13cm radios , Paolo IW3GRX has supplied me the pcb for these radios. These radio are a state of art design made by S53MV Matjaz Vidmar. Here used modulation is PSK with coherent detection as in satellite communication , which permit to have good link margin is all conditions with less power than typical non coherent FSK. With non coherent FSK you need at least 25dB C/N to have good BER conditions. See you soon 73 de chris F1RPC
